From the Megapode Camp Resort, Port Blair, Andaman Islands, India
I've finally gotten the information on how to post by email, so
this is an update and test.
The VU4AN licenses expire at midnight local time tonight, so this group
will be heading to Havelock Island Resort tomorrow, to enjoy air conditioning, diving and actually being in the water. There's a late ferry tomorrow, so we'll be able to actually get there then, rather than lose a day. I don't know if I'll have internet access from there, but will be back in Chennai on 3 May, where I'm sure I'll have something (there's free wireless access at the airport).
The operation from here has been a bit disappointing, since we've had
significant power failures at some of the times that should be most productive, and we've had the expected bad propogation at times.
On the whole however, the entire VU4AN operation has been successful, since the operations were spread out over the whole area, and even when we lost power, others were on. I actually did little operation myself, partly because of the power failures, and partly because several others were quite enthusiasic about operating RTTY.
I've got a bit of head crud, so am not feeling great right now, and hope a couple of days of good sleep and real comfort will help. I'm glad I came on this trip, and expect to enjoy seeing more of the country, including Lakshadweep, better known to the amateur radio community as VU7. Ham operations from there are still prohibited, but there's great hope for next year, so I'll go by ship from Cochin (no baggage restrictions), look around, and dive there.
