on NB

a very quiet day

14:48Z 11 Oct 44:12N 011:53W
We're going slowly SW, now under minimal power (1000 RPM on one engine).
72 miles was the day's run, which rate would take us longer to cross then we have rations.
We have no cabin boys, either.
The sea is currently glassy, and it was warm enough so a number of us were shirtless on deck in the afternoon.

I was acting as mate for the watch this afternoon, when I wasn't fixing a power saw or an engine room blower. You not lived until you've done electrical work inside the exhaust stack on top of a stepladder in rolling seas.
