Time Event
post-Halloween at sea
1 November 2011 0848Z 22:23'N 028:11'W
We had Halloween on board yesterday, as well as ship's Sunday. This is the second time I've done this on BOUNTY- so I was prepared. I laid in a stock of candy(1) for the trick-or-treaters who came to the bow when I was on forward lookout.

We dogged the watches, so I'm now on "nappy" watch, 4-8, so called because you get to nap from 08 to 12 after the night watch. It is the most comfortable watch, and you get sunset and sunrise during.

It looks as if we're in the real tradewinds now and we made a run of 2 degrees 15 minutes west yesterday, totally under sail. We're optimistic about our quick arrival at St. Thomas.

(1) Bounty bars, what else?
Sunset cruise
I have been neglecting to mention that we're now shutting down the generator from after dinner cleanup until sunset. It's been a point of some contention because the people sleeping in aft crew at the time, usually the 8-12 and 12-4 watches, had been dependent on the airconditioning and personal 115VAC fans for ventilation. So we've rigged a windsail, as well as a port from nav into aft crew and I've loaned my 12VDC fan to provide more ventilation.

We're seeing lots of flying fish these last few days, too. We caught a large fish, but didn't get it aboard due to a misplaced gaff.

Oh, and I'm smellier then usual- my watch gets to shower (or do laundry) on even numbered days- but when the 31st is followed by the 1st...
