I'll move on board Friday.
The trip over was long but easy- walk to BART, BART to SFO, Delta to JFK and then to Shannon (SNN), and a coach to Galway, plus a little walk to the hostel. The bar they used for directions doesn't seem to be there any more, so I missed one turn, but also had a map, so spotted the problem quickly. Both Delta aircraft had USB power ports even in the cheap seats, so after slapping together a Mintyboost to get auxiliary power for the PDA upon which I'm reading books, it turned out to be unnecessary (in fact, I didn't need the aircraft power, either).
A couple of quotes from Moby Dick:
'I take it that this part of the bill must have run something like this:
"Grand Contested Election for the Presidency of the United States."
"Whaling voyage by one Ishmael."
"Bloody battle in AFFGHANISTAN." '
I'm not Ishmael and I'm not whaling, but the rest fits today.
And the second: "With this once long lance, now wildly elbowed, fifty years ago did Nathan Swain kill fifteen whales between sunrise and sunset." The last DXpedition I did to a Pacific Island was to Swain's Island, so named because it was sold to a New England whaling captain for a coconut plantation. Some relative, I'm sure.
